After high school, went to University of Kansas and earned a B.S. in Journalism and B.A. in History in 1977; After graduation, worked in advertising in Chicago for 8 years with two major retailers; Moved to Phoenix in 1986 and transitioned into corporate communications, working as the public relations manager for a regional trade school for 3 years, then as client services manager for two large downtown Phoenix law firms for a total of 14 years; Have spent the last 19 years working as the public information supervisor for the Arizona Game and Fish Department at its Phoenix headquarters. I enjoy the job and haven't retired yet (but am getting closer).

School Story:

I have a lot of good memories, but my favorite ones were the three years I spent running track and cross country for NTW. Made some truly great friends. I really liked our coaches, too: Jerry Parsons, Jerry Kates and Doug Chase (who was a first-year coach my senior year).

Bob was a great guy. We met in elementary school and got to be very close friends in high school when we were both distance runners at NTW. Some of my best memories in high school involved the camaraderie of the people on the cross-country and track teams, including Bob, Gordon Bess, Tom Lambert, Jeff Carlson, Vic Devinatz, Mitch Hirsch, the Knorr brothers, Bill Hersh, Quentin Bruhn, Sandy Fitchet, Bill Richardson, Jim Jacobson, the Holm brothers, and many others. Jerry Kates and Jerry Parsons were our coaches, and Doug Chase helped coach us in track in spring 1973 (I believe that might have been Doug's first coaching gig in his long and distinguished coaching career).

Bob and I stayed in touch through college and when he went to law school. I often joined him and some of his law school friends for periodic dinners in Chinatown, where the family of one of his classmates owned a restaurant. We continued to stay in touch after he embarked on his law career and we were both working downtown. One of my biggest surprises was after I'd purchased season tickets to Chicago Bears games through a friend in 1984 and 1985. As our group took our seats (we were in the north end zone) for the first game in 1984, I heard a familiar voice behind me, calling out to me. It was Bob with his group!

After I moved from Chicago to Phoenix in 1986, Bob and I stayed in touch but only saw each other in person occasionally when I'd come back to visit my folks in Glenview. He sadly left us way too soon. Rest in peace, Bob.
